About us

1944-2020

Marek Rosłon, Pakmar’s CEO, was born in Warsaw, where he spent his entire life. He graduated the Jan Zamoyski High School No. 18 in Warsaw, and already at the age of 16 joined the Faculty of Construction Machinery and Vehicle Engineering (today Faculty of Automotive and Construction Machinery Engineering) at the Warsaw University of Technology, which he graduated earning the title of Master of Engineering. He also completed the Postgraduate Programme in Foreign Trade. He was a member of the Governing Board of the Packaging Certification Centre at the COBRO Institute and a co-founder of the Polish Chamber of Packaging as well as a member of the Main Board of the Association of Polish Exporters.

Marek Rosłon joined the packaging industry in 1968 as a research worker at the Central Packaging Research Centre (today COBRO) in Warsaw. His research work involved new, more robust packaging designs that would prevent damage in transit. Over time this work turned into his real passion.

In the early 1970’s, he spent several months on an internship in a number of Italian packaging companies, where he had the opportunity to expand his knowledge with new packaging technologies.

In 1975-1977 he was involved with PTHZ ELEKTRIM as a packaging expert to then move to PRiWHZ AGPOL as the Manager of the Import Department at the Trade Office, where he was later promoted to Import Department Director. He would manage and supervise the work of a team of experts responsible for the import and sourcing of packaging materials for the largest Polish dairy, oil and pharmaceutical facilities, as well as for the import of cellulose for most Polish paper mills. These contracts were concluded with manufacturers around the world.

These years show also the development of Poland’s packaging production. Marek Rosłon was genuinely committed in promoting and exporting Polish packaging to European markets.

Political transformation meant new opportunities for Poland. In 1990 a group of enthusiasts, with Marek Rosłon among them, decided to set up their own company, promoting the sale of innovative and modern solutions for the packaging industry. Marek Rosłon was both a co-founder of our Company as well as, for many years, its President and CEO. He held this position until his death. Marek Rosłon set the directions of our company's development, constantly and persistently defined and implemented the goals and methods of company’s operation. Thanks to his determination, PAKMAR was able to present its offer to a great number of companies and establish long-term business relations.

In 1993 Marek Rosłon decided to expand into the production of packaging. In the dynamically developing competitive environment of the 1990’s our company had to face new challenges. Our development options were narrowed by the pure commercial nature of our business. The company acquired land in Rębków near Garwolin to start the construction of a film processing facility. The first piece of equipment was bought for film cutting and rewinding and for production of vacuum packaging bags. This business is still running today, although both the machinery as well as the range of processed materials have changed.

Our CEO was not afraid of new challenges, he would constantly look for new opportunities and innovative solutions and expand our company's business. He believed that an attractive offer and its consistent implementation would lead to the desired effect. With this belief, in 1994 we established a long-lasting partnership with a German manufacturer of inks, including dry offset ,ZELLER&GMELIN, and developed our business by a creation of paint mixing plant.

Marek Rosłon spared no effort working on the implementation of new packaging materials following the best global manufacturers. At a time when many end users would still use trays for packaging on a hot table, we consistently presented a complete packaging solution on tray sealer : machines, trays, lidding films. Today this solution is used as a standard by the food sector or HoReCa.

Many of our CEO’s projects have shaped further development of our company.

He was genuinely involved in promoting biodegradable packaging. In the 1990’s, in a partnership with SIDAPLAX of Belgium, a representative of PLASTIC SUPPLIERS, US, he started to promote the idea of environmental responsibility among Polish manufacturers. For many years it was just an idea discussed during symposia and lectures at universities. However with time,   the market starts to appreciate the value of biodegradable and compostable packaging, and the idea is becoming a reality. Marek Rosłon also worked on developing biodegradable barrier packaging, now a part of our standard offer, and mono-material packaging for recycling.

President Marek Rosłon received many national, special as well as industry awards and distinctions, the most important of which include: Silver Medal for the Development of Polish-Finnish Collaboration, Winner of the "Meritorious for the Packaging Industry" contest. Knight of the Badge of Honour for Services to the Development of the Polish Economy. He was also awarded the "Meritorious for Export" medal.

President Marek Rosłon left a large group of people for whom he was a role model and mentor throughout the years of work.
